Sly Fox has street smarts and an ability to understand others more quickly than most kids his age. Like many children, Fox has had to adapt to some big changes in his home and family life. His biological parents are no longer together, but they maintain a positive relationship while sharing custody of Fox and his younger sister. During the week, Fox lives with his mom, stepdad, and two older step-siblings. On weekends, he gets to stay with his dad. Fox idolizes his dad and loves the lack of structure and increased attention he receives while visiting him.
Having been the oldest in his original family, Fox strives to be a leader and wants to be the expert among his siblings. This creates tension for Fox as he struggles to adjust to being the middle child in his new blended family. Going from the oldest child to the middle child has taken an emotional toll on Fox, and he often acts out and feels angry as a result. This is sometimes made worse by the frustration he feels at having more siblings to compete with for his parents’ attention.
